Department of Clinical Psychology

The Department of Clinical Psychology was established in the year 2007 at Central India Institute of Mental Health and Neuro-Sciences under the guidance of Dr. Pramod R Gupta (Director & Psychiatrist). The department help people who are struggling with mental, emotional, social, and behavioural disorders by applying their extensive knowledge and expertise in assessment, diagnosis, treatment, teaching, research and prevention. The department was started the M. Phil in Clinical Psychology course in the year of 2021 at this institute and recognized by Rehabilitation Council of India (with intake of 10 students per batch) and also internship courses for clinical psychology students started.

>Clinical services:

Clinical psychologists take detail psychological assessments of the patients At times, clinical psychologists use answers from patients to evaluate problems that are confusing or worrying, offering alternative ways of interpreting and understanding them through the psycho-diagnostic assessments (projective tests, and objective testing like MPQ, MMPI, MCMI TCI etc) aptitude testing, neuropsychological assessments, training for basic managerial skills and all kind of psychotherapeutic management including CBT, REBT, MBCBT, RPT, DBT, IPSRT and general counselling etc.

>Departmental activities:

The Department of Clinical Psychology has well trained and qualified faculty members. The departmental conducts regular academic classes and weekly departmental seminars and psychotherapy meetings based on the course curriculum for the students as well as for students of other disciplines such as Psychiatric Social Work and Psychiatric Nursing. The trainees are required to present and participate in departmental case conferences, seminars and journal clubs.

>Laboratory:

The department has well- equipped psychological assessment infrastructure to facilitate better mental health services and training mental health professionals. The laboratory is well stacked with various tests for assessment of personality(MMPI-II, Rorschach Inkblot Test, EPQ, CPQ,RPFT,MCMI-III, CAT, TAT & etc), Neuropsychological testing (N-FAB, PGI-BBD, Raven’s Progressive Matrices, AIIMS Battery BGT-II and etc.), and other domains of human behaviour (MISIC, DST, WAIPIS, WAIS-IV, SBIS, various screening test learning disorders and etc).
